The News to Me is sensationalistic, dramatic, misleading, and missing the purpose. The news is meant to inform the public, to increase awareness on important subjects, and to provide an unbiased view of the day's most important stories. The major news outlets determine, for the public, which stories are important, but more and more often the most important stories of the day lack substance or any genuine significance. Let's take the celebrity gossip off CNN and Fox News and leave it to Perez Hilton and Entertainment Weekly. I shouldn't be able to turn on America's news network, CNN and find Anderson Cooper talking about Jon and Kate Gosselin's divorce. I like their show, who doesn't, their kids are adorable, but Anderson Cooper and CNN have many more pressing issues to inform the public about. Join me and let's evaluate the meaning of the word important as I survey the stories making headlines each day.
Each morning I will provide a commentary on the day's top stories from CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, both online and on television. I will be providing my honest opinions and whether or not you agree, It's the News to Me. Interested? Give me your feedback and tell me about The News to You. Email me at: itsthenewstome@gmail.com.
