Obama v. Boehner - Epic Scheduling Battle

With yet another minor story being transformed into breaking news, it has become abundantly clear that the 24-hour news networks do not have enough viable stories to fill the 24-hours.  Let's be honest, with the re-runs and late-night international news, they don't even have a true 24-hours to fill.  Maybe this is why the news used to be a nightly event that you watched on the true networks, NBC, CBS and ABC.

Honestly, breaking news should be reserved for truly pressing matters, like President Bush choking on a pretzel, not a fabricated showdown between President Obama and Rep. Boehner.   Sure, it was a slap in the face to Obama, but who cares?  It's no secret that they don't like one another.  If anything, it's a miracle that Obama and Boehner agreed on an alternative date so quickly.  Compared to the debt-ceiling debate, this "Showdown" looks like a real win for bi-partisan politics.  And, I'm happy about the change, now I get to watch the GOP debate, which will probably closely resemble an episode of, Big Brother.  Rick Perry is "Head of House" this week, while Ron Paul, Rick Santorum and Jon Huntsman will be battling for the Veto to save themselves from the Tea Party's axe.

The worst part about this story is that now I'm reading new articles about how the scheduling mix-up is clouding Obama's message on jobs.  Well, no shit!  That's because the 24-hour news networks are spending their time talking about the scheduling mix-up instead of Obama's message!  So they exaggerated a story about the scheduling mix-up and failed to widely publicize Obama's message.  Which, in turn, provided them with material for a follow-up story.

I guess it makes sense, they need some way to fill the 24-hours.  It's too bad I'll have to miss Obama's speech...can't miss Packers v. Saints.  What's he speaking about anyways?
